On June 14, 2025, the LéO Africa Institute proudly welcomed the inaugural cohort of Griots Fellows, a landmark initiative that marks a new chapter in our mission to foster values-driven leadership and amplify African voices. This year’s cohort comprises 27 exceptional young leaders from across the African continent, expanding beyond our initial expectation of 25 fellows. Representing diverse backgrounds and professions, these individuals embody the spirit of innovation, resilience, and commitment to driving positive societal change. Through the Griots Fellowship, we aim to empower these changemakers to reclaim Africa’s narrative, celebrate its rich heritage, and shape a future defined by African agency and pride.
